You ask yourself: OHT - what is that? And we are setting off? We say: Yes. We are entering new, creative dimensions in handling technology. And with just five components. We call it the OHT system, the OverHead Transport System.
But first things first...
It all started with the idea of equipping large work areas with handling technology. Handling technology that is easy and ergonomic to operate and works precisely and quickly. And from this idea came the great idea for a system that will change handling technology: we are moving the technology completely upwards. It "floats" above the operator, so to speak, thus clearing the way for fast and safe working within a large area. Hence the name OverHead transport system.
The leap into a new dimension. With five components.
To equip large work areas with just one system, we bring five components into play. Combined in different ways, they allow us to customise the dimensions of your work area. Specifically, we are talking about a steel structure, an aluminium rail system, a lifting system, electric drive modules and a load handling attachment. That’s it already.
The OHT-system.
Using an aluminium rail system attached to a steel structure, we create a space in which the technology can later move. The size and height of the steel structure are designed according to the respective requirements and adapted to the statics required on site. The rail system is a combination of fixed and movable rails that allow us to move in the X/Y direction. The rails can be driven either manually or via intelligent, electric drive modules.
With the lifting system mounted in the movable rail, movement in the Z direction is now added. In other words, up and down. The intelligent LiFTKON chain balancer is responsible for this. It makes it possible to lift loads of up to 900 kg and, thanks to the suspension in a rotating platform, to rotate them endlessly through 360°. If you want to. If not, angle limits can be installed. It also enables the load to be positioned precisely. However, in order to lift such heavy loads safely and move them weightlessly over large areas, a Z-axis is the central element of the lifting system. It provides stability and safety. This also makes it possible to pick up off-centre loads.
And finally, the lifting device: it is connected to the Z-axis via a flange and bears the attractive name OHT tooling. This is because it is not just a load handling attachment, but also offers various high-quality features such as a touchscreen, buttons, operating handle, joystick and handrails, which enable the operator to operate the tooling easily and intuitively. One example of intuitive operation is the joystick, which always moves in the same direction as the Z-axis. Position detection and a camera in the tooling perfectly round off the advantages of easy handling of the load handling device. The tooling shown in the photos is used for loading and unloading electrode rolls, so a pressure and tensioning mechanism is integrated to hold the rolls securely.
That makes the difference.
The OHT system opens up new spatial and technical dimensions. Large work areas can be equipped with modular technology, which the customer can put together according to their wishes and requirements. In addition to many standard components, the OHT system offers many optional components, such as drive modules, dust protection, camera in tooling, control box or limit switches, to name but a few. An infinite range of possibilities to turn complex requirements into a smooth work process.
And where is it used?
The new OHT system is used for charging and discharging electrode rollers. In other words, at manufacturers of batteries for electric cars, where safe loading and unloading of the machines is essential. In principle, however, all applications are conceivable in which heavy loads have to be moved freely in space within large working areas. The size of the OHT system is based on the given dimensions of the work area and can be customised. The OHT system can also be integrated into an existing production line. If customised software is required for this, a special control system is also possible. The tooling can also be customised according to the load to be picked up.
The OHT. Makes you happy. Because it fits.
With the OHT system, lifting and moving processes in large work areas can be organised efficiently, safely and ergonomically. As the dimensions can be customised and the tooling adapted accordingly, customers get a tailor-made solution that makes them happy. Because it fits.
